Where do I find the convict number?
On the convict submission form we ask for the Convict number from the Archives of Tasmania Index to Tasmanian Convicts. This is a unique number that the Archives of Tasmania has given to each convict in its index. To find this number for your convict, go to the search form for the Index to Tasmanian Convicts and search for your convict.
You can find the convict number on the list of search results, for example:

or in the detailed record for a convict:

If you have submitted a convict without adding this number from the Archives of Tasmania Index, please add the number as this will help us in making links between different types of record. You can find a list of all of your convict submissions at My convicts. Click on the convict's name to view the submission, then click on the Edit link and add the convict number from the Index in the Convict number field. Please contact us if you have any difficulty.
