Interviews about the design of this site

Dear Volunteers,

There is a lot of changes and developments happening with the Founders and Survivors site in the near future. I'm currently helping the team with the design of the site.

I would like to do some short interviews with some of the users of the site, to get a sense of how the community would like the site to look and how you want it to work. These interviews can be done on the phone or if you are based in Hobart we can meet at my office.

If you are interested please contact me via email at robin@sproutlabs.com.au.

Thank you

Robin Petterd

Local volunteer groups

Dear friends of Founders and Survivors,

Many of you have indicated your interest in working with other volunteers in your area, or in making contact with other local genealogists. I have set a up a number of pages on this website to facilitate this. You can visit the Groups page to see a list of local volunteer groups, and request membership of a group.

If you would like to join or suggest a location that is not listed, or if you would like to assist us by coordinating a local group, please contact Claudine.

progress report on migration of data

Dear friends of Founders and Survivors,

We have received many questions about the status of our data migration process. We are trying to bring together data from a variety of sources -- such as police records, surgeons' records and death registers -- that have been stored in many different formats and data structures. The process of making these different kinds of data ready for electronic publication is complex and time-consuming.

Website theme updated

You may notice that some aspects of this website's visual appearance ('theme') have changed. In particular, some links have been moved from the right sidebar to a new sidebar on the left. All URLs on this site should continue to work as usual. If you have any comments or questions about the site, please contact me.
